Same shoes photographed January 1, 2010...photographed again December 31, 2010...
The words that began the year: One step at a time, simply put one foot in front of the other, after all, life is about the journey not the destination. I fully admit I need this reminder more than most. I constantly have my eyes on the far horizon, trying to figure out what is next, instead of simply living in the moment. The more I do this, the more frustrated I get. There comes a point in all our lives, where the nicely paved road that had been set before us, turns to gravel, then to dirt, then to brush, then to no road at all...it is at that point you must create your own. You control your journey, your destiny, your future...
365 days later...
The words to end the year: The sun sets upon another year passed. How time flies, much stays the same, many things change, uncertainty remains the constant. We more and more realize who and what matters most. Life tests you time and time again; seeing just how much you can handle, will you last, will you perceiver? You lace them a little tighter, breathe a little deeper, climb a little higher, gaining courage and strength along the way. There will come a day, you will stand atop that ladder, no more steps to climb. The view of what lie before you and what still lie ahead of you, will have made the treacherous journey, all worth the while! Believe in that day. Believe in yourself. You make a difference to one, to many, to all!
As I stand on this last day of 2010, grateful, yet worrisome, in the moment, yet forcasting the future, ecstatic, yet terrified, healthy, yet accident prone, original, yet a follower, forgiven, yet regretful, found, yet lost, loved by many, yet quite lonesome, mature, but not yet wise...but most importantly, I stand as me...Cori Alexander...I have bared my soul to you this year, thank you 2010, here's to a New Year!
***To all those who have followed this project for the last year, I THANK YOU, a million times over! Your support and encouragement, occasional wise crack, have made this project a dream come true! Never could have done it without you all. Hopefully printed to paper in 2011 =)***
"For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning."
